| Back in 1973 a group of enthusiasts
came together and formed the Hednesford Motorcycle Club. For a while the
club prospered, the Chase rally (Chasewater) ran for 5 years, but like
most clubs of the period, interest waned and the club folded. Then in
1987 a small group of former members decided to have a go at
resurrecting it as a “ Classic bike club”, like a Phoenix rising from
the ashes the club prospered. However, its members realised that the
classic bias was deterring potential new members and although there was
(and still is) a strong classic element within the club, it now welcomes
all motorcycle enthusiasts. The Chase rally was never rekindled, so a new rally on Cannock Chase was started up - Stags'n'Slags - with the deer or stags on one side and the former slag heap and pit on the other. The rally catered for over 300 bikers each year, and in 2004, 450 bikers turned up for our 10th year celebration rally. Since 2007 the rally has been on hold due to problems locating a suitable site. An event in 2010 is yet to be confirmed. Each year we have a stand at the Classic Bike Show at the Staffordshire County Showground where members show off their bikes. The Club also takes part in charity events, camping weekends, rallies and club visits. |
